Sausage Biscuit and Gravy Casserole
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450 g) breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
- 1 can refrigerated biscuits (or homemade, about 8–10 biscuits)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheddar & mozzarella)
- 1 packet country gravy mix (or homemade gravy – see note below)
- 2 cups milk (for gravy mix)
- 6 large eggs
- ½ cup milk (for eggs)
- Salt & black pepper (to taste)
Instructions:
- Cook the sausage
- In a skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
- Prepare the biscuits
- Cut biscuits into halves or quarters.
- Make the gravy
- Whisk gravy mix with 2 cups milk (or make homemade with flour, butter, sausage drippings & milk).
- Cook until thickened.
- Assemble the casserole
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- Layer biscuit pieces on the bottom.
- Spread cooked sausage evenly on top.
- Pour gravy over sausage layer.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs + ½ cup milk, season with salt & pepper, and pour over the casserole.
- Sprinkle cheese evenly over everything.
- Top with remaining biscuit pieces (optional, for a golden topping).
- Bake
- Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until biscuits are golden and eggs are set.
- Serve
- Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm! 🧀🥓🍳
