Sausage Biscuit and Gravy Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits (or homemade, about 8–10 biscuits)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheddar & mozzarella)
  • 1 packet country gravy mix (or homemade gravy – see note below)
  • 2 cups milk (for gravy mix)
  • 6 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk (for eggs)
  • Salt & black pepper (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the sausage
    • In a skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
  2. Prepare the biscuits
    • Cut biscuits into halves or quarters.
  3. Make the gravy
    • Whisk gravy mix with 2 cups milk (or make homemade with flour, butter, sausage drippings & milk).
    • Cook until thickened.
  4. Assemble the casserole
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 9×13 baking dish.
    • Layer biscuit pieces on the bottom.
    • Spread cooked sausage evenly on top.
    • Pour gravy over sausage layer.
    • In a bowl, whisk eggs + ½ cup milk, season with salt & pepper, and pour over the casserole.
    • Sprinkle cheese evenly over everything.
    • Top with remaining biscuit pieces (optional, for a golden topping).
  5. Bake
    • Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until biscuits are golden and eggs are set.
  6. Serve
    • Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm! 🧀🥓🍳
