Ingredients:
For the fritters:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 ½ tsp cinnamon
- 2 large eggs
- ⅓ cup milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 ½ cups apples, peeled & diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
For the glaze (optional):
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk (or apple cider)
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Make the batter
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, and melted butter.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed (don’t overmix).
- Fold in the diced apples.
- Fry the fritters
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, flattening slightly.
- Fry for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Glaze them (optional but delicious 😋)
- Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.
- Dip warm fritters into the glaze or drizzle it over the top.
