🌮 Carne Asada Burrito Recipe
Ingredients:
For the carne asada (steak):
- 1 ½ lbs flank or skirt steak
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- Juice of 2 limes
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jalapeño, chopped (optional for heat)
- ¼ cup cilantro, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
For the fillings:
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1 cup guacamole (mashed avocado with lime, salt, cilantro, optional onion)
- 1 cup pico de gallo (diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, lime juice, salt)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
- Salsa verde or hot sauce
Instructions:
- Marinate the steak
- Mix olive oil, lime juice, garlic, jalapeño, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
- Coat steak in the marinade and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (up to overnight).
- Grill the steak
- Cook over high heat (grill or skillet) for 4–5 minutes per side (medium).
- Let rest 5 minutes, then slice into bite-sized cubes.
- Warm tortillas
- Heat flour tortillas on a dry skillet until soft and slightly toasted.
- Assemble burritos
- Spread guacamole on the tortilla.
- Add carne asada pieces, pico de gallo, cheese (if using), and salsa verde.
- Fold and roll tightly into a burrito.
- Optional finish
- Place the rolled burrito back on the skillet for 1–2 minutes to get a golden, crispy outside.
