Ingredients:

For the carne asada (steak):

  • 1 ½ lbs flank or skirt steak
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, chopped (optional for heat)
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the fillings:

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup guacamole (mashed avocado with lime, salt, cilantro, optional onion)
  • 1 cup pico de gallo (diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, lime juice, salt)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • Salsa verde or hot sauce

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the steak
    • Mix olive oil, lime juice, garlic, jalapeño, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
    • Coat steak in the marinade and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (up to overnight).
  2. Grill the steak
    • Cook over high heat (grill or skillet) for 4–5 minutes per side (medium).
    • Let rest 5 minutes, then slice into bite-sized cubes.
  3. Warm tortillas
    • Heat flour tortillas on a dry skillet until soft and slightly toasted.
  4. Assemble burritos
    • Spread guacamole on the tortilla.
    • Add carne asada pieces, pico de gallo, cheese (if using), and salsa verde.
    • Fold and roll tightly into a burrito.
  5. Optional finish
    • Place the rolled burrito back on the skillet for 1–2 minutes to get a golden, crispy outside.
